Jesse Barber

Chef

Straight out of culinary school, Jesse Barber completed an externship at the French Laundry and Bouchon Bistro in Napa, California, where he refined his French techniques and experienced the intensity and discipline required to run a restaurant. Jesse was the chef de cuisine at Marché in Eugene, Oregon and worked with the acclaimed Bruce Carey Restaurant Group in Portland. He moved to Los Angeles and became the chef de cuisine at the Tasting Kitchen, named one of *GQ*’s Best New Restaurants in 2010. He curated the culinary program for Summit Eden, hosted a series of pop-up dinners around Los Angeles, and was the chef of Barnyard. With Jesse’s classical French training, experience in Italian kitchens, and love of Japanese cuisine, he has found a unique, clear voice. He opened Dudley Market in 2015 to give the Venice neighborhood of Los Angeles an elevated version of the neighborhood bistro. It received rave reviews from critics and customers for its approach to everyday luxury and its contemporary approach to fine dining.

Spoken Word Poet

IN-Q is a world renowned poet, National Poetry Slam champion and multi-platinum winning songwriter. Recently named one of Oprah’s SuperSoul 100 thought leaders, his groundbreaking performances include selling out the largest one-man poetry show in Los Angeles history, being the first spoken word artist to perform with Cirque Du Soleil, and being featured on HBO's Def Poetry Jam and A&E's Look Closer campaign. He writes to entertain, inspire, and challenge his audiences to look deeper into the human experience and ask questions about themselves, their environment, and the world at large.

Alice Waters

Owner, Chez Panisse
Founder, the Edible Schoolyard

Alice Waters is a chef, author, food activist, and the founder and owner of Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley, California. She has been a champion of local sustainable agriculture for over four decades. In 1995 she founded the Edible Schoolyard Project, which advocates for a free school lunch for all children and a sustainable food curriculum in every public school. She has been Vice President of Slow Food International since 2002. She conceived and helped create the Yale Sustainable Food Project in 2003, and the Rome Sustainable Food Project at the American Academy in Rome in 2007. Her honors include election as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2007; the Harvard Medical School’s Global Environmental Citizen Award, which she shared with Kofi Annan in 2008; and her induction into the French Legion of Honor in 2010. In 2015 she was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Obama, proving that eating is a political act, and that the table is a powerful means to social justice and positive change. Alice is the author of fifteen books, including New York Times bestsellers The Art of Simple Food I & II, The Edible Schoolyard: A Universal Idea.

Adam Hiner

Co-founder, Boochcraft

Adam has been brewing kombucha for over a decade and began brewing for retail sale at his own restaurant in 2011. His restaurant, Local Habit, was the first restaurant in San Diego to offer kombucha on tap and likely one of the first in the country. Adam’s passions include surfing, acroyoga, organic gardening, cooking and building culture around Boochcraft.

Hannah & Marian Cheng

They opened​ the​ first​ ​Mimi​ ​Cheng's​ in​​ ​New York's​ ​East ​​Village,​ ​building their menu off of their own mother’s secret dumpling recipes.​ Two​ ​years later,​ ​Mimi​ ​Cheng’s​ ​expanded​ ​to​ ​their​ ​second​ location​​ ​in​ ​Nolita​ with​​ ​a ​​continued​ ​commitment​ ​to​ using​sustainable​ and​​ ​locally​ ​sourced​ ​ingredients​ ​and​ ​their ​mother's​ ​recipes.​ ​In​ ​2015,​ ​both ​​Hannah ​and​​ Marian​ were​ included​​ ​in ​​Zagat’s​ ​30​ ​Under ​​30.​ ​They’ve​ ​also​ been​ featured​ in​ ​notable​ ​media ​outlets​ ​including ​Bon​ Appetit,​ ​Vogue,​ ​New ​​York​ ​Magazine,​ ​and ​Forbes.

Michael Hebb

Founder, Deathoverdinner.org

Hebb has been staging convivial gatherings and redefining hospitality / tablemaking since 1997; co-founding the City Repair project with Mark Lakeman; and co-founding family supper, ripe, clarklewis, and the Gotham Bldg Tavern in Portland with Naomi Pomeroy. His expansive multidisciplinary dinners have taken place on five continents, have been exhibited in several museums and featured in the NY Times, The New Yorker, W, Art Forum, The Atlantic, The Guardian and dozens of international publications. Michael strongly believes that the table is one of the most effective vehicles for changing the world.

Tero Isokauppila

Founder, Four Sigmatic

Tero is on a mission to make medicinal mushrooms, some of the world’s most researched superfoods, more accessible to everyone. He founded Four Sigmatic in 2012 and its products are now sold in over 25 countries. In 2015, the company launched in the U.S. and relocated its headquarters to Los Angeles, California. Tero is a reputable source on superfoods, an expert on natural health and was chosen as one of the world's TOP 50 Food Activists by the Academy of Culinary Nutrition.

Kaela Bluff

Resident Boochologist, Boochcraft

Kaela is currently working for Boochcraft as an events lead, account manager, and resident ‘boochologist’ in San Diego, CA. Before moving to San Diego in September 2017, Kaela spent over seven years working as a bartender, manager and trainer in and around NYC. During her time in the industry, she developed a passion for designing and mixing craft cocktails. Outside of Boochcraft, Kaela loves to channel her creative energy by making various types of art and cooking for her friends and family.

Maggie Koerner

Singer-songwriter

The Shreveport born singer-songwriter spent the majority of 2013 and 2014 as the lead singer and front-woman for legendary New Orleans’ funk-band Galactic. Spending 2015 on the road and in the studio, Recently Maggie released her “Dig Down Deep (EP)”, produced by esteemed UK producer Fink (Amy Winehouse, John Legend, Banks) on R’COUP’D / Ninja Tune and is already working on her next record, which could be described as a marriage of her signature soulful voice, hard-hitting beats and complex sonic production, blending into a beautiful danceable masterpiece.

Lauren Turner

Yoga Practicioner

Lauren is a certified yoga instructor that has been traveling & teaching across the globe for over 10 years. It is no surprise that as a ballet dancer and model, Lauren believes that a healthy body begins with a relaxed mind. Her training includes in depth pranayama, and sound healing which she uses throughout the class. She is determined to help people achieve their optimal flexibility and maximum results through rejuvenating postures, vinyasa flow, restorative or power yoga. Her classes are a natural fit for yogis of all levels - just be prepared to sweat, laugh and engage with your edge.

Sam Kass

Former Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition Policy
Executive Director for Michelle Obama's Let's Move! campaign

Sam Kass is the former White House Chef and Senior Policy Advisor for Nutrition in the Obama administration. He is the founder of TROVE, a strategy firm focusing on improving health and sustainability of food and a venture partner in Acre Venture Partners. After cooking for the Obamas in Chicago for two years, Sam joined the White House kitchen staff in 2009 as Assistant Chef and, in 2010, became Food Initiative Coordinator. During his White House tenure, he took on several additional roles including Executive Director of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign and Senior White House Policy Advisor for Nutrition. Sam is the first person in the history of the White House to have a position in the Executive Office of the President and the Residence. As one of the First Lady’s longest-serving advisors, he helped the First Lady create the first major vegetable garden at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt’s victory garden. In 2011, Fast Company included Sam in their list of 100 Most Creative People, and in 2012, he helped create the American Chef Corps, which is dedicated to promoting diplomacy through culinary initiatives. He is an MIT Media Lab fellow and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. He is a graduate of the University of Chicago.

What to expect

Each weekend offers over 10,000 acres filled with untracked powder for skiing and snowboarding, guest chefs, world-class speakers, emerging musical talent, outdoor activities, wellness programming, spa services, and an incredible group of leaders to connect with.

 
 

The official program starts on Friday afternoon at 4PM and ends Sunday afternoon at 4PM. 

Weekend lodging is Friday through Monday morning, with lift tickets provided for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Arrive early to enjoy a day of skiing with your Friday lift ticket before official programming begins. We welcome attendees to stay the extra evening (Sunday) after official programming ends for dinner and head home Monday.
